Whisperglide Wheelchair Swing

The Manor Culture Change committee selected a project to work on in early 2006.  They decided upon purchasing a Whisperglide Wheelchair Swing.  The swing provides a bench on one side and a wheelchair accessible ramp on the other, allowing room for 3 people to enjoy a relaxing and soothing ride.  The fundraising for this project over the next year and a half would include a garage sale, whopper feed, bake sale, and donation cups placed throughout the community.  They were also blessed with many private donations from family members and members of the community.  By August 2007 the manor had raised the $5000 needed to purchase the swing.  The residents were able to vote on fabric colors and patterns. In September the swing was delivered and installed inside the manor to allow for year

round use. Since that time many residents and family members have enjoyed using the swing.  The gentle swinging is relaxing, interactive, and enjoyable. Also, most people identify with swinging. Residents, friends, children, family, staff, and volunteers can now experience this together. Swinging is especially ideal for visiting children, because it is a fun activity.  We recall how swinging, in our childhood years, joyfully brought us together with friends and loved ones. Years later, this experience can once again be possible.
